The reason companies are choosing to integrate EDI capabilities with their eCommerce Store

In most of our blogs, we discuss the advantages of integrating and automating business processes through the use of modern, efficient management systems. We’ve seen first-hand, with all of our customers, how the right IT solution can not only affect company growth and productivity but it has the power to also affect the mood and stress levels of employees. When processes run smoothly, employees are happier and less stressed. They are able to work in a positive environment and can spend their time completing important tasks that will aid in company growth rather than spend their day endlessly inputting data into the management system and feeling frustrated and de-motivated.

So, when we meet business owners that have recently implemented an eCommerce Store at their company, such as one from Shopify, we explain to them the possibilities and advantages involved with integrating this store not only with their ERP management system, if they have one, but also with EDI capabilities.

Many companies are already perhaps even using all 3 technologies. They may have a management system that handles their accounting, sales, inventory and purchases, and also use EDI services to send and receive Purchase Orders and Invoices with their Trading Partners. What many executives tend to forget about is integrating all of these technologies together to further streamline and automate processes, reduce manual data entry and improve efficiency. Why hire more staff to input new orders coming in from your partners via EDI into your ERP system if the possibility of having all orders go straight into the system automatically is there? Why not take advantage of being able to send orders from your eCommerce platform straight to your suppliers or manufacturers via EDI?

Empowering a company’s eCommerce platform with EDI capabilities will surely bring a better balance between customer requests, coming in from the eStore, and supply chain demands. It’s all about quickly and automatically exchanging real-time information with suppliers to ensure the supply chain is managed as efficiently as possible. It’s about making sure orders are processed and shipped quickly to appease consumer demands. It’s about bringing greater visibility of accurate product inventory levels to consumers. It’s about enhancing communication between everyone; distributors, retailers, manufacturers and customers. In the end, which company doesn’t want to increase the speed of order processing and the receiving of invoice payments as well as improve overall efficiency to increase sales?

eCommerce stores, EDI services and modern, easy-to-use ERP systems are all on the rise. Many business owners are becoming much more interested in the latest business technologies that have the potential to help in their company’s growth and success. We urge everyone to integrate all of these systems to see some great improvements!
